EPISODE 1 WHAT IS RESTORATIVE JUSTICE.jpeg

We believe camp is the best place to build and scale trust and that camps are inherently restorative. Across the board summer camp focuses on fostering relationships and building community, which is directly in line with restorative justice practices.

At the same time, several camps have different ways of dealing with conflict. Join us as we chat with Nick Lomauro and Dynasty Rutledge about their camp experiences, and uncover how this work is making its way into summer camps across the country.

Show Notes:

Nick Lomauro - Nick is Frost Valley YMCA’s Director of Camp Wawayanda. After he graduated from Montclair State University, Nick worked at Somerset Hills YMCA as Director of Youth Development running teen programs and day camp. Nick grew up in the Y and loves camp because he believes it is a cyclical community of purpose.

Dynasty Rutledge - Dynasty is from Rochester NY, and just recently graduated from Wilson High School. She is an alumni of ROC Restorative, a program that works with students in RCSD to mitigate conflict and prevent future harm. Dyno also worked on staff at Stomping Ground in 2019, and has such a distinct love and passion for the community around her.
