At camp we change the narrative around conflict. We see conflict as an opportunity for connection and innovation rather than a way to find blame and place shame. This single idea has the potential to radically change the world we live in.

Camp has become a playground for testing out group development and systems thinking. These learnings are sought after by other communities including camps, school districts and other places looking to empower young people.

At camp, we strive for cultural humility in addition to cultural competency. We do this through dialogue and shared experiences. We openly seek to understand and learn from others, assuming positive intent when we mess up or make mistakes.

Stomping Ground intentionally brings people together who are different. Our campers and staff have different passions, histories, and backgrounds, but all of us share the space together. We learn to create community together in the hopes of practicing the type of world we want to live in.

Camp is filled with wonder and awe. The creativity and ingenuity of our campers and staff each summer pushes the edges of what is possible. Together we build magical universes to play in and explore. These moments and shared experiences bolster creativity and help us retain a childlike sense of wonder. The possibilities are limitless.

Kids are capable of meeting the challenges of our time with the kind of radical imagination that will lead to change, but they need the space and permission to dream. Creating a world like this is possible, and we’re doing it.

At camp we take personal responsibility for the impact our actions and decisions have on others in our community. As a community, we strive to hold each other accountable for our curiosity and understanding of others.

Living together in a shared space asks a lot of people coming from very different spaces with different ability levels. There's a responsibility piece that comes into play at camp where you aren't just responsible for yourself anymore, but responsible for yourself AND your friends.
