Introducing: Chandan Brown!
I still remember interviewing Chandan for his summer position. After five minutes, I went completely off-script and we just talked. I already could tell he was a great fit for camp. Chandan started out the summer as a cabin counselor and moved into helping out with our teen program without ever missing a beat. He does extraordinary, unexpected things with grace and patience. Personally, I hope to be a little more like him. I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention that he literally produced an album with campers during Artsfest this year.
I can’t wait to see what he does next.

What’s up folks! My name is Chandan,
and I am absolutely thrilled to help Camp Stomping Ground continue to create great experiences for us all! I thrive on two things:
1. Making fun and engaging content
2. Building products that benefit humanity
Camp is special as it is one of the very few places where both can be accomplished at once!
I can’t understate the importance the camp experience has played in my life, and I would hate for any person to miss out on the opportunities for growth that camp provides. Before I started creating music, I performed for the first time at a summer camp in high school. I was anxiety ridden, my nerves shook me, but I stood in front of the crowd boldly. Afterwards, many campers and counselors came to me and encouraged me to keep going with music and to take it seriously. They believed in me. These were people from all parts of the world, from different cultures, different belief systems, and they all equally showed me a love that I won’t forget. That is a context that almost exclusively belongs to camp, and it is hard to find it anywhere else. That is what I’m hoping to recreate for others.
Still, I must clarify my goal. I wish to create the best Summer experience that we have ever experienced thus far. Maybe not the best that we ever will experience, but the best so far. From the oldest member of staff to the youngest camper. I wish to make friends and family, to build a unique community, to create everlasting memories. To obtain thoughts of ourselves as radically empathetic people that we take home with us. To satisfy our hearts.
We go into an environment that is separated from the world and all of our daily tasks. We embrace the wilderness, literally and figuratively. We become the outsiders. This is our journey together. We face the challenges and we overcome the obstacles of self growth. Learning about ourselves in a new context. Expanding our horizons of what it means to be us. I was given this in my childhood and I feel obligated to pass it forward.
I loved my childhood. It was beautiful, and camp played a huge role in why it was beautiful. The experience is a treasure to be cherished. Everything was new and different, mysterious and curious. I was full of pure intrigue and interest in the people that surrounded me. As an adult we fight to experience moments like this. Anything that is akin to our youth. Camp is a generator of these moments.
So, my job here at SG is to help make a Summer full of these great moments. Something to remember.
