Amy Padnani
Amy Padnani is an award-winning editor on the obituaries desk at The New York Times and the creator of Overlooked, a series that tells the stories of remarkable women, people of color and others whose deaths were not noted by the newspaper.
She is the co-author of Overlooked: A Celebration of Remarkable, Underappreciated People Who Broke the Rules and Changed the World (2023), and two forthcoming Overlooked books for young readers that will be published in October 2026. Before joining The Times in 2011, she was a reporter at several New York City–area newspapers. Born in Queens, N.Y., she graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and New York University and now lives in New York City, where she writes fiction in addition to her work in journalism.
