Night Game Creation with DaKwan!
Night games are one of our favorite activities at Stomping Ground. Whether it is giant games of capture the flag, talent shows, transcending back into medieval times, or throwing Jack in the lake, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Since this summer we were unable to run our night games at in person camp, some of our staff decided to bring the fun of brainstorming to zoom. DaKwan, Kate, and a crew of our finest HTSG campers crafted the game you can read about below, “Intergalactic Catastrophe!” - Ray
INTERGALATIC CATASTROPHE
A team of Astronauts have landed on a planet and discovered an alien town. The town’s generator has been destroyed by the monsters’ boss and his minions that inhabit a cave on the outskirts of the village. The boss has also taken one of the towns people and made them their evil assistant. With the help of the crews biologist, we have identified different creatures. The biologist has made a journal with missions detailing how to approach each creature. The crews archaeologist has discovered the necessary materials to rebuild the generator. Two of the pieces can be found via some clues that were picked up by the archaeologist, but the final piece is being held by the aliens in their lair.
OBJECTIVES:
Complete all the missions assigned by the archaeologist and the biologist, rebuild the generator, and defeat the alien monster menace to save the town and bring back the captured towns person!
TOWN/CAVE:
Town will have a store where you can purchase weapons, armor, and maybe even snacks/lemonade? Campers can choose to help make armor and weapons to sell for gems for the town. There will also be a station for the biologist and archaeologist where campers can go and receive missions.
Monster cave will be where the boss remains until the end of the game. There they will guard the final element to the generator and the townsperson they have as their minion.
Biologist missions:
Bounty Hunt: 1 or 2 specific monster henchmen are causing problems, campers must team up to find them and turn in their tags for gems.
Monster Training: There is a specific kind of monster that can be easily tamed, campers must team up to catch as many of them as they can, bring them back to the town, and train them to fight with the town in the final battle.
Monster Hunt: The monsters in the bounty hunt have minions running rampant making things harder for campers, defeat them and turn in their tags for gems.
Archaeologist missions:
Scavenger hunt: Two of the three key elements to fixing the generator are scattered around the “planet” we must team up and use clues to locate these.
Search for the hideout: The Monster hideout is actually hidden somewhere we don’t know about. Campers will have to follow clues, or even try to sneakily follow monsters back to the base. Once the base is found, campers must play dodge ball until all the minions in the hideout are down and the boss is distracted so we can retrieve the generator piece.
FINALE:
Once all the objectives are complete and the generator is fixed, the monsters will leave from their lair and try to attack the village one last time. We must defeat the monsters and their Boss
