HomeTown Stomping Ground Week 2 Update

Never did we think we would run virtual camp. Never did we expect such a strange program to grow so fast. And never would we have guessed it would be this much fun.

After Week One, our team decided to level up the sessions. We added weeklong dungeons and dragons, made a teen time block, and even Laura led us in our first virtual “Tell Me Something Good.” When Klee and I leave sessions, we always talk about how grateful we are for you all. It’s supposed to be our job to make you laugh, but most of the time it’s YOU who brings the fun. Your energy and excitement around these zoom calls give us the confidence to keep working and creating connection. For every dance class you come to, or smoothie workshop you participate in, just know we feel incredibly lucky to have you in our community.

The numbers?!?! We went from 48 individual campers and 140 camper hours week one, to 85 individual campers served with 341 camper hours logged!

WEEK TWO HIGHLIGHTS

DND MADNESS

  • Brian led one group of DnD folks to a magical palace, an adventure filled with dwarves, elven magic, and dangerous spells. Louis’ character even turned a bandit queen into a rat!

BURGERS WITH KEV

  • Chef Kev made one of his signature cheeseburgers as HomeTown campers were able to ask him questions about all types of cuisine.

POSITIVITY FORTUNE TELLERS

  • Emily led a packed house for an embers, where kids made positivity fortune tellers meant to remind ourselves of the things that bring us joy and happiness.

KID BOARD MEETING

  • Laura gathered some campers together for the first ever HTSG Board Meeting. Recording of this coming soon!
