PREPARING FOR SUMMER 2021
INFORMATION
Gathering the best information to keep campers and staff safe next summer means talking with the local health department, following the advice of the American Camping Association, and talking with other experts in the camping field. We are determined to have the most up to date information and to adhere to the guidelines and procedures outlined by the CDC. We are prioritizing the safety of our camp community as well campers’ home communities.
COMMUNITY
This next summer is all about building the safest neighborhood for kids to play in. Our focus has always been on building community, but community is now more important than ever. We are ready to get creative in order to keep campers and staff safe while building and rebuilding social emotional skills, and the next generation of radically empathetic decision makers. Building a community at camp based on trust where campers and staff feel empowered to follow the guidelines and protocols because they understand the reasoning will strengthen our connection and reinforce the umbrella of safety.
PREPARATIONS
There are several things to consider when preparing for next summer. We are already making the necessary renovations and additions to the property including sanitation stations, larger capacity cabins, and ventilation systems. We are also forming a re-opening committee of mental health professionals as well as parents and caregivers to prepare staff to respond to the stress and strain the pandemic has produced for kids.
COMMUNICATION
Stomping Ground is committed to providing summer programming for as many campers as we can this coming season. We are committed to open dialogue and communication with families every step of the way. You can expect phone calls from Laura and Klee, videos about how we are preparing the site, town hall zoom meet ups to answer questions and anything else we can think of to share our decision making process with you.
